During the hurricane season, the enterprises that do business in the Caribbean patiently wait. Their whole investment portfolio for the upcoming year might be -quite literally- gone with the wind.
Royal Holiday's interests in the area always weather the storm and have proven to be resilient to Mother Nature's most furious poundings. As a matter of fact, the think tank at Royal Holiday has managed to transform this waiting period from stormy gusts into winds of change.
In 2005, after resisting Katrina, the holiday club invested one million USD in building three hotels in Cancun and Cozumel. Time has proven this was the right decision. This year, while waiting for the storms to dissipate, Royal Holiday is planning on either building or purchasing a hotel at Bahia, in Brazil.
True to their philosophy of freedom and flexibility, Royal Holiday is seeking new markets. Growing in Brazil and in the rest of Latin America is paramount for Royal Holiday's bonanza, particularly after the financial melt down in the USA which represents 40% of the club's 80 thousand members worldwide.
Royal Holiday's business in Brazil has increased by 130% solely through new membership sales. In addition to the new hotel at Bahia, Royal Holiday is planning on investing 150 million USD's on the acquisition of new hotels in Brazil. This will lay a solid foundation for growth in the area.
Royal Holiday counts 2000 members in Brazil already and has offices in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Salvador de Bahia, they will soon open an office in Belo Horizonte and three more in the span of one year: Porto Alegre, Brasilia and Goiania.
Royal Holiday started its operations in Brazil when it purchased numerous rooms at the Rio Othon Palace hotel in Copacabana. Right there and then they were faced with their first challenge: the contract for new members followed that of Mexico.
This included a clause that stated that anyone who canceled the membership would be charged a cancelation fee. That clause has been erased from the brazilian contract in order to comply with that country's laws for consumer protection Growing and overcoming challenges are the base on which Royal Holiday will expand in South America.
